Fresh Start

Leaders do not like it when drama, friction, or squabbles land on their desk. The friction could be, for example, between a cardiologist and the Cath Lab staff. Maybe it’s an endless-loop kerfuffle between a gastroenterologist and the Endoscopy Suite staff, or a surgeon and the OR nurses. It might even be full-on drama between the surgeons and the anesthesiologists.

PULSE’s Fresh Start approach focuses less on prior incidents and complaints and more on building agreements to change the working relationship for the future. Participants identify the specific sources of friction and to create an agreed-upon-by-all behavior change action plan to reduce the friction and improve collaboration, communication and teamwork..

The Fresh Start process is designed to facilitate healthy communication between parties involved in a conflict, helping them to find common ground and reach mutually acceptable agreements moving forward. Our team of coaches has extensive experience in healthcare settings, enabling us to deliver customized relationship-building interventions for a wide range of conflict scenarios.

Fresh Start uses a step-by-step mediated structure for conflict resolution and/or friction-reduction. A dedicated PULSE Coach is assigned to both sides, and the preparatory meetings focus on uncovering the causes and drivers behind the conflict, followed by a virtual meeting with everyone together to create a Fresh Start Agreement that reboots the relationship.
