From Harvard to Punxsutawney: A Snapshot of Recent PULSE 360 Initiatives in 2025

Academic Medical Centers

  • The University of Michigan will begin using the Leadership PULSE 360 for its Leadership Academy
  • The American Board of Thoracic Surgery now requires PULSE 360s as an educational activity for all residents applying for board certification (97% have participated so far); PULSE meets the ACGME professionalism competency requirement
  • Hospital for Special Surgery has finished a departmental Physician-Leadership PULSE 360 program and just launched the program for many of its front-line physicians
  • About 15 Harvard-affiliated Hospitals have now launched various PULSE 360 programs
  • McGill University Health Centre (Montreal) has launched Physician-Leadership and Front-Line Physician PULSE 360 programs for two departments
  • University of Ottawa just launched a PULSE Climate/Culture Survey for one of its departments (PULSE recently completed one for McMaster University in Ontario)

Community Hospitals

  • Children’s National Hospital (Washington, DC) has launched its third department of physicians and/or leaders
  • Larry Harmon, PhD/ PULSE conducted a retreat for about 80 Legacy Health (OR) physician-leaders focusing on burnout, giving and receiving feedback, and how to do collegial interventions with difficult doctors
  • Union and Cherokee Medical Center (SC) are launching the new morale-building Appreciation PULSE Program for physicians
  • TEAM PULSE 360s are underway for units in hospitals such as: Punxsutawney Area Hospital (PA), CHI St. Alexius Health Bismarck (ND), Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System (SC), etc.
